Main lines of action
Restore
Our aim is to conserve habitats -slowing degradation via active and passive restoration- and share the knowledge we create with society.
We promote habitat conservation to prevent degradation
Active restoration
We promote and carry out active restoration work in various marine habitats. We began with Posidonia oceanica and gorgonians, but we continue to expand our reach.
Passive restoration
We remove barriers, stressors, and conditions that prevent the natural conservation of marine ecosystems.
In detail
Research projects
We foster partnerships with scientific organisations based on our experience with IMEDEA-CSIC.
Scientific dissemination
We share our knowledge, methodologies, and projects with society and other organisations. We create a knowledge hub through an online platform and scientific seminars.
Educate and raise awareness
We firmly believe in the power of awareness -understanding the immense wealth beneath the sea and the growing, serious threats it faces, most of them caused by human activity. Knowledge leads to appreciation, which leads to protection.
We spread knowledge to maximise our impact
Educational workshops
As part of our environmental education plan, and in collaboration with the Ecomar Foundation, we develop Marine Forest Workshops in primary and secondary schools.
Other initiatives
We aim to expand our education and awareness initiatives across the country, especially in areas where we carry out conservation and restoration projects.
'Posidònia l'Aula' programme
In the Balearic Islands, we support the 'Posidònia l’Aula' programme. Thanks to this initiative, more than 1,000 students have conducted research projects on the importance of protecting this endemic Mediterranean plant. It is carried out with IMEDEA-CSIC and the Teacher Training Centre of Calvià, part of the Balearic Islands Department of Education and Universities.

Marine Forest Workshops
Together with the Fundación Ecomar we develop an Environmental Education Plan through the Marine Forest Workshops, held in primary and secondary schools. Through these workshops, students across Spain become part of the Marine Forest platform. During the 2024–2025 school year, we held eight workshops in schools in Barcelona, Murcia, Madrid, Alicante, Almería, and Mallorca. In these workshops, students learn about the importance of Posidonia oceanica and its key role in the marine ecosystem.
These activities not only foster environmental education and awareness among future generations through play and learning but also encourage active youth participation. This way, they can take part in protecting one of the Mediterranean’s most valuable and threatened ecosystems while promoting sustainable practices for marine conservation.

Online training
In this online course, you’ll discover the importance of the oceans, the value of marine forests, and the essential role of Posidonia oceanica in the health of the Mediterranean. You’ll also learn how to protect these unique ecosystems. This course is part of the Marine Forest Environmental Workshops.
We achieve it through partnerships
We are convinced that collaboration among different stakeholders -governments, companies, organisations, and society as a whole- maximises the positive impact of conservation efforts. We create a meeting point for society, government agencies, scientific institutions, companies, and NGOs.
